The SIG SG 510, known in Swiss service as the Sturmgewehr 57, is a selective fire battle rifle designed by Rudolf Amsler for the Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft, using a roller delayed blowback action. Adopted by the Swiss Army in 1957 chambered for the 7.5x55mm GP 11 cartridge, it served as the mechanical and design basis for the export SG 510 family, including a 7.62x51mm NATO variant. Beyond Switzerland it was used by Bolivia, Chile, Monaco, Ukraine and Zaire.
