The 35M was a Hungarian bolt-action rifle chambered in 8x56mmR, superficially resembling the earlier 95/31M Carbine but built as a new design with a cock-on-close bolt and a bolt handle placed further forward than the 1895 pattern. Hungary used it in the years leading up to and during World War II and afterward, before it was gradually phased out by Soviet Red Army surplus rifles and locally produced Mosin-Nagant carbines.
