The Beretta AR70/90 is a gas operated assault rifle chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO cartridge and is the standard issue service rifle of the Italian Armed Forces. Designed and manufactured by Beretta, it has rifle grenade capability with dedicated sights and is offered in variants including a wire folding stock model for paratroopers. The original AR70/223 was produced from 1972, with the improved AR70/90 in production since 1990.
