The Berkut, meaning golden eagle in Russian, is a family of semi-automatic, gas-operated hunting carbines designed by V.P. Gryazev and manufactured since 1998 by the Russian KBP Instrument Design Bureau in Tula. It is offered in three calibers, .308 Winchester, 7.62x54mmR, and 9x53mmR for larger game, with detachable wooden stocks in several styles including semi-pistol and thumb-hole configurations.
