The Colt Police Positive Special is a small-frame, double-action revolver introduced by Colt's Manufacturing Company in 1907, chambered primarily for the .38 Special cartridge with a six-round cylinder. It was built mainly for sale to law enforcement agencies and became one of the most popular sidearms with American police departments through the early and mid-20th century, competing with Colt's own Official Police model for that market. Production ran from 1907 to 1995, with more than 750,000 units made, offered with barrel lengths of 4, 5 or 6 inches and Colt's Positive Lock safety mechanism.
