The Karabiner Modell 1931, commonly though incorrectly called the K31, is a magazine-fed, straight-pull bolt-action rifle that served as the standard-issue rifle of the Swiss armed forces from 1933 until 1958, with some examples remaining in service into the 1970s. It carries a six-round detachable box magazine chambered for the 7.5x55mm Swiss GP11 cartridge, a round with ballistic qualities similar to 7.62x51mm NATO, and it replaced the Model 1911 rifle and carbine before itself being gradually replaced by the Stgw 57 from 1958 onward.
