Daewoo Precision Industries K2

The Daewoo Precision Industries K2 is a gas-operated assault rifle that has served as the service rifle of the South Korean military since its adoption in 1985. It was developed by the Agency for Defense Development of South Korea and manufactured by Daewoo Precision Industries, later SNT Motiv, together with Dasan Machineries since 2016. The K2 is shoulder-fired and chambers both 5.56x45mm NATO and .223 Remington ammunition, though the manufacturer recommends .223 Remington only for short-range practice. It replaced the M16A1 as the primary infantry rifle of the South Korean military, though the M16A1 remains in service with reservists.
