The OTs-21 Malysh is a 9mm semi-automatic pistol designed by Y. I. Berezin at the KBP Instrument Design Bureau and manufactured by Izhmash in Russia for roles where concealment is the priority, designed in 1994 and entering service in 2006. It fires double-action-only through straight blowback, has an internal hammer and almost no external protrusions to snag on a fast draw from a pocket or holster, and carries five rounds with minimal sights limited to a groove along the top of the slide, reflecting its purpose for very short-range use. Variants include the OTs-21S in .380 ACP and the OTs-26 in 5.45x18mm, and the pistol serves Russian law enforcement as well as the Armenian police.
