Heckler & Koch HK45

The Heckler & Koch HK45 is a semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP, developed by the German manufacturer Heckler & Koch with input from retired Delta Force operator Larry Vickers and firearms instructor Ken Hackathorn, and put into production in 2006. Described as an evolutionary advancement of the USP Compact chambered in .45 ACP, it has a full-size grip that eliminates the need for magazine covers, an ambidextrous slide release, an ergonomic grip with interchangeable backstraps and finger grooves, slide serrations, a standard Picatinny rail, and a barrel O-ring for consistent slide-to-barrel lock-up. It uses a short recoil-operated, Browning-type tilting barrel system with a locked breech and holds 8 to 10 rounds depending on variant. The pistol was originally designed to meet United States military specifications for the Joint Combat Pistol program, and Heckler & Koch continued marketing it commercially and to law enforcement and military customers after that program was cancelled in 2006.
