The Mauser Model 1908 is a bolt action rifle based on the Gewehr 98 pattern, introduced in 1908 and built originally by Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken and Mauser in Germany, with later production at Brazil's Itajuba arms factory. Chambered over its service life in 7x57mm Mauser, .30-06 Springfield, and 7.62x51mm NATO, it weighs 3.8 kilograms, is 125 centimeters long with a 74.3 centimeter barrel, and feeds from an internal magazine loaded with five round stripper clips, with iron sights adjustable to 2,000 meters. It armed Brazil, Uruguay, and the Dominican Republic and saw combat in Brazil's Contestado War, the Tenente revolts, and the Araguaia Guerrilla War.
