The Mannlicher M1894 was an early semi-automatic pistol designed in 1894 by Ferdinand Mannlicher in Austria-Hungary, notable for a blow-forward mechanism in which the barrel itself moved forward under recoil rather than a slide moving rearward. Manufactured in limited numbers between 1894 and 1897, with fewer than 300 built by Fabrique d'Armes de Neuhausen and Dreyse in 6.5x23mmR and 7.6x24mmR chamberings, it fed from a 5-round stripper clip into an integral magazine and reached a muzzle velocity of about 326 meters per second. Austrian, Swiss and American military trials evaluated the pistol but none adopted it.
