TOZ rifle

TOZ rifles are a family of .22 Long Rifle bolt-action cadet rifles made by the Tula Arms Plant that trained generations of Russian military, paramilitary, and police cadets, comprising three main models. The TOZ-8, designed by D. M. Kochetov in 1932 and produced into the late 1950s, is a single-shot design of which about one million were made for training and remain in civilian hunting use; the TOZ-17, designed in 1956 and 1957, added a 5-round detachable magazine and a free-floating barrel for hunting and sport shooting; and the TOZ-78, designed in 1986 and 1987 and still in production, accepts 5- or 10-round magazines across several variant configurations.
