American-180

The American-180 is a submachine gun designed by Richard J. Casull in the 1960s, evolved from his earlier Casull Model 290, that fires .22 Long Rifle or .22 ILARCO rimfire ammunition from a large pan magazine. Manufactured from the early 1970s through the mid-1980s by companies including Voere, Illinois Arms Company and American Arms International, roughly ten thousand were built in total. It has mainly been used by American law enforcement and correctional facilities, along with military and special forces units in Croatia, France, New Zealand, Rhodesia and South Africa.
