The Vis, known in Polish as pistolet wz. 35 Vis and in German as 9 mm Pistole 35(p), is a Polish 9 by 19 millimeter single action semi-automatic pistol first produced in 1935 at the Fabryka Broni factory in Radom and adopted as the standard sidearm of the Polish Army the following year. After Germany's 1939 invasion, occupying forces continued production under the designation Pistole P 35(p) and issued the pistol to Waffen-SS units. Its design combined features of the Colt M1911, the Browning Hi-Power, and the Spanish Ruby .45 ACP pistol, and it is still regarded by collectors as one of the finer military pistols of its era.
