The Smith & Wesson SW series, more commonly known as the Smith & Wesson Sigma, was Smith & Wesson's first pistol line built around a high-strength polymer frame, marking the company's first venture into synthetic-material handgun construction. Manufactured in the United States from 1994 to 2012, the series became notable both for its design iterations and for a patent dispute with Glock over the similarity of its frame and trigger mechanism to Glock's own pistols.
