MEU(SOC) pistol

The MEU(SOC) pistol is an American magazine fed, recoil operated .45 ACP pistol, a modified variant of the M1911 platform hand built by the United States Marine Corps Precision Weapons Shop at Quantico for the Marine Corps Force Reconnaissance element and Marine Expeditionary Units beginning in 1985. Marine armorers hand fitted parts from several manufacturers to make a pistol able to withstand heavy use, with some frames firing more than 500,000 rounds, and the weapon saw service in Panama, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq. It was retired from Marine service in 2012, replaced by the Colt M45A1 Close Quarter Battle Pistol.
