Smith & Wesson Model 460

The Smith & Wesson Model 460 is a large-bore, five-shot, single-action/double-action revolver made by Smith & Wesson in the United States, introduced in 2005 and still in production. Built on the same X-frame as the companys .50 caliber Model 500, it is chambered for the .460 S&W Magnum and can also fire .454 Casull, .45 Colt and .45 Schofield ammunition. It was designed as a hunting and dangerous-game defense revolver for use in places such as Africa and Alaska, and Smith & Wesson markets the Model 460 XVR as the highest-velocity production revolver and the most powerful .45 caliber production revolver in the world, reaching about 2,330 feet per second with a 200-grain bullet; it won the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence handgun of the year award the year it debuted.
