The GSh-18 is a 9mm semi-automatic pistol developed during the 1990s by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau in Tula, Russia, designed by V. P. Gryazev and A. G. Shipunov, whose designers' names combine with its 18-round magazine capacity to give the pistol its designation. Chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum cartridge as well as the higher-pressure 7N21 and 7N31 loads, it entered service with Russia's Ministry of Justice in 2000 and saw wider adoption from 2003.
