P9RC

Small Arms And Sidearms

The P9RC is a semi-automatic pistol designed by József Kameniczky and made by the Hungarian arms factory FÉGARMY. Kameniczky designed it in 1980, originally for export to the civilian market. Hungary adopted it in 1996 to replace the PA-63 after the end of the Warsaw Pact, and it was called the P9RC in police service and the 96M in the Hungarian military. It is one of several Hungarian copies of the Browning Hi-Power. The P9RC derives from the P9R and differs from it in the guide rod assembly, the lower part of the barrel where the tilting barrel lock works, a wider extractor and the grips, which were wooden at first and later plastic. In the 1990s some were replaced by the IWI Jericho 941 and the Heckler and Koch USP, and in 2018 the CZ P 09 became the standard Hungarian service pistol.
