The RG-6 is a Russian 40mm revolver-type grenade launcher developed by the Tula-based TsKIB SOO between 1993 and 1994 and brought into service in 1994. A six-shot infantry weapon firing caseless grenades compatible with the underbarrel GP-25 launcher, it was created to increase infantry firepower in the close, urban fighting typical of the Chechen wars. It weighs 6.2 kilograms, fires from a swing-out revolving cylinder at a muzzle velocity of 76.5 meters per second, and can reach a rapid rate of fire of up to two rounds per second.
