The HK512 is a semi-automatic shotgun of Italian origin, developed and produced by Franchi at the request of Heckler & Koch, with Franchi handling initial assembly and Heckler & Koch performing final assembly and marketing. It is a gas-operated 12 gauge shotgun with a 7-round tubular magazine, offered with barrels from 18 to 30 inches and weighing about 8 pounds in its 28 inch barrel version. It was one of the first semi-automatic shotguns developed for law enforcement use, with approximately 1,500 units manufactured before production ceased.
