Accuracy International AWM

The Accuracy International AWM, for Arctic Warfare Magnum, is a British bolt-action sniper rifle introduced in 1996 as a magnum-caliber development of the company's earlier Arctic Warfare rifle, lengthening the bolt and action to accommodate more powerful cartridges. Built around a chassis stock bedding the action, and chambered for either .300 Winchester Magnum or .338 Lapua Magnum, the rifle is issued to British and allied forces under the designation L115A1 and its improved successor L115A3, paired with a Schmidt and Bender telescopic sight, and it has been adopted by NATO and other military and police special-operations units including Germany's G22 variant. In November 2009 a British Army sniper using an L115A3 variant of the rifle recorded a confirmed kill at 2,475 meters in Afghanistan, which stood for several years as the longest recorded sniper kill in history.
