The RPG-76 Komar is a disposable, one shot, unguided anti-tank rocket propelled grenade developed in Poland as a lighter and more compact alternative to the RPG-7, particularly suited to airborne operations. Its design lets it be fired from inside buildings or vehicles because jet nozzles positioned between the warhead and fuel compartment vent the backblast forward rather than to the rear. It grew out of a Polish-Bulgarian collaboration begun in 1971 under the Argon project, was designed in 1973, adopted into service in 1985, and was manufactured from 1983 to 1995 at the Precision Works plant in Niewiadow, Poland, with total production exceeding 100,000 units.
