TOZ-87

The TOZ-87 is a Soviet gas-operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by N. V. Babanin at TsKIB SOO and manufactured by the Tula Arms Plant, designed in 1978 and produced from 1987 under a designation that replaced its earlier MTs 24-12 name. It is a 12-gauge smoothbore hunting weapon firing 12/70 shells from a tubular magazine holding four rounds plus one in the chamber, weighing 3.2 kilograms with an overall length of 1240mm and a base barrel of 711mm. After the Soviet Unions collapse the economic crisis of the 1990s pushed firearm prices up in Russia, putting shotguns like the TOZ-87 out of reach for many civilian hunters.
