Flash-Ball is a registered trademark for a French less-lethal hand-held projectile launcher designed in 1990 by the hunting firearms manufacturer Verney-Carron and produced from 1995 onward as an alternative to lethal firearms, bean-bag rounds and plastic bullets for riot police. Built in side-by-side and over-and-under two-barrel versions chambered for a 44x83mm cartridge, it is a striker-fired, double-action launcher used by police forces in France, by Macau's Special Operations Group, by Portugal's Public Security Police and by Indonesia's National Police.
