The AK-103 is an assault rifle designed by the Russian small arms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov and manufactured by the Kalashnikov Concern. Chambered in 7.62x39mm, it belongs to the export AK-100 rifle family and was offered for export beginning in March 1993 as a derivative of the AK-74M rebuilt to fire the older 7.62x39mm M43 cartridge used by the AKM. It was designed in 1993, entered production in 1994 and has been in service since 2001.
