The IWI Tavor X95 is an Israeli bullpup assault rifle and carbine developed by Israel Weapon Industries between 2003 and 2009 and selected as Israel's standard-issue infantry weapon in November 2009. It refines the earlier IWI Tavor TAR-21 by moving the charging handle closer to the pistol grip and adding a redesigned buttstock and a magazine release near the grip, making it more compact than the M4 carbine at 580 to 714 millimeters depending on configuration. The rifle uses a long-stroke gas-operated system with a rotating bolt and is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, .300 AAC Blackout, or 5.45x39mm, with interchangeable components allowing conversion to a 9mm submachine gun configuration.
