The Zastava M85 is a carbine, a shortened rifle variant, made by the Yugoslav and later Serbian manufacturer Zastava Arms, chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and drawing design elements from the Soviet AKS-74U carbine. Developed from 1985 as a modernized successor to the Zastava M80 assault rifle, its production was disrupted by the breakup of Yugoslavia but continued afterward for commercial sale and export.
