Ruger Deerfield carbine

The Ruger Deerfield carbine, also designated the Model 99/44, is a centerfire semi-automatic rifle chambered in .44 Magnum, made by Sturm, Ruger and Company from 2000 to 2006 using a rotating-bolt, short-stroke gas piston system. It succeeded the earlier Ruger Model 44 Deerstalker, made from 1961 until 1985, but was an entirely new design, borrowing an open-top receiver similar to the M1 carbine for strength and manufacturability and a rotary magazine like the one on the Ruger 10/22 rifle, in place of the fixed tubular magazine used on the Model 44.
