WASR-series rifles

Small Arms And Sidearms

The WASR-series rifles are Romanian-made semi-automatic rifles built on the Soviet AKM pattern, manufactured by the Cugir Arms Factory and imported into the United States chiefly by Century International Arms. Produced as civilian sporting variants of the AKM in several calibers, they were designed to satisfy the export controls of the 1996 Wassenaar Arrangement. WASR rifles have since been documented in criminal use in the United States, including in the Mexican drug trade and specific mass shootings.
