The Heckler and Koch SL6 is a semi-automatic rifle made by the German firm Heckler and Koch, produced from the 1980s until 1991 and marketed worldwide as a hunting and utility rifle derived from the HK 630 hunting rifle. Chambered in .223 Remington or 5.56x45mm NATO, it uses a roller-delayed blowback action, weighs 7.92 pounds unloaded, measures 39.76 inches overall with a 17.71 inch barrel, and feeds from a 3, 4, or 10-round detachable box magazine, sighted through a rotary rear aperture drum and a hooded foresight. The SL6A2 variant added a flash hider and a two-round burst capability. Production ended when the rifle was replaced by the Heckler and Koch SLB 2000.
