The M2010 Enhanced Sniper Rifle, originally designated the XM2010, is a bolt action sniper rifle built by Remington Arms and developed by the United States Army's PEO Soldier program to give snipers greater reach in the mountainous terrain of Afghanistan, replacing the earlier M24 Sniper Weapon System. Chambered for the .300 Winchester Magnum cartridge rather than the M24's 7.62x51mm NATO, it offers about fifty percent more effective range, with an effective firing distance of roughly 1,200 meters and demonstrated one minute of angle accuracy. Fielded by the United States Army beginning in 2011, it has also been used by Colombian special forces.
