The MGD PM-9 was a French open bolt submachine gun designed in the late 1940s or early 1950s by Louis Debuit and manufactured in small numbers by the French firm Merlin and Gerin. Its design was unusual in three respects: it used off axis delayed blowback, a clock style spiral mainspring similar to that of the Lewis gun rather than the cylindrical coil spring found in most self loading firearms, and a rotating flywheel as a delaying mass working with the bolt. It was built with a folding magazine, and some examples also had folding buttstocks, making it a highly compact weapon. There is no known record of the MGD PM-9 being purchased or deployed by any military or police force.
