Central African Bush War

The Central African Bush War was a civil war in the Central African Republic fought from 2004 to 2007 between government forces and the Union of Democratic Forces for Unity (UFDR), a rebellion that grew out of unrest following Francois Bozize's seizure of the presidency in 2003. Several smaller rebel factions, including the People's Army for the Restoration of Democracy (APRD) and the Movement of Central African Liberators for Justice (MLCJ), also took part, and Chad supported the government side. The war displaced roughly 212,000 people and killed more than 400 civilians, and although an April 2007 peace agreement ended most of the fighting, unresolved tensions contributed to the outbreak of a second civil war in 2012.
