The Byzantine-Sasanian War of 602-628, also called the Last Great War of Antiquity, was fought between the Byzantine Empire and the Sasanian Empire and was the final and most devastating conflict of the centuries-long Roman-Persian wars. The war ended in a Byzantine victory that restored the status quo ante bellum, but the exhaustion of both empires left them vulnerable to the Muslim conquests that followed within a decade.
