The Second Crusade (1147-1149) was the second major crusade launched from Europe, fought by a coalition of Western Christian powers including the Kingdom of France, the Holy Roman Empire, England, Sicily, Portugal, the County of Barcelona, Leon, the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the County of Tripoli, the Principality of Antioch and the Knights Templar against Muslim states including the Sultanate of Rum, the Zengid Atabegate, the Burid Emirate, the Fatimid Caliphate and the Almoravid Emirate. The crusade's outcome was mixed: a Crusader victory in Iberia, a Byzantine victory in the Balkans, and a Crusader defeat in Anatolia and the Levant.
