The Turkish War of Independence (15 May 1919 - 24 July 1923) was a series of military campaigns and a revolution waged by the Turkish National Movement under the Ankara Government after the Ottoman Empire was occupied and partitioned following its defeat in the First World War. The Turkish National Movement, joined by allied forces including Azerbaijan and the Aras Republic, fought Greece, the British Empire, France and, briefly in 1920, Armenia, and the war ended in a Turkish victory.
