Ancient Swords

Ancient swords are the bladed weapons of the ancient world, forged in bronze and iron for infantry and cavalry before the medieval period. A weapon belongs here when the infobox of its cited article names it a sword and the weapon is placed in the ancient period. It excludes medieval and later swords, which sit in the later period groups. Weapons in this group are placed by what their own cited article states, so a visitor browsing ancient swords sees only systems whose sources name that role, and can compare them across eras, makers and the forces that used them.
