Colichemarde

The colichemarde is a distinctive smallsword blade that appeared around 1680 and remained popular at the royal courts of Europe for roughly the following forty years, through the late seventeenth and into the mid-eighteenth century. Its blade combined a wide, strong forte for parrying with a narrow, lighter foible for quick offensive action, a design suited to the dueling and fencing conventions of the era.
