Queen Anne pistols are a type of breech-loading flintlock pistol known as a turn-off pistol, in which the chamber is filled from the front and is accessed by unscrewing the barrel. A further distinguishing feature is that the lock-plate and the breech section of the firearm are forged as a single piece. Possibly first made in England, the design came into fashion during the reign of Queen Anne and is consequently named for her. It is noted for being made small enough to be easily carried and concealed, and carbine versions of the design are also documented.
