A Mameluke sword is a cross-hilted, curved, scimitar-like sword derived from the sabres used by Mamluk warriors of Ottoman Egypt, after whom it is named. The sword most commonly used in Ottoman Egypt was the kilij, the same type used elsewhere in the Ottoman Empire.
