Chain whip

The chain whip, also known as the soft whip, is a weapon used in some Chinese martial arts, particularly traditional Chinese disciplines, as well as in modern and traditional wushu. It consists of several metal rods joined end to end by rings to form a flexible chain, with a handle at one end and a metal dart at the other used for slashing or piercing an opponent. A cloth flag is often attached near the dart end and sometimes a second flag covers the handle, both adding visual appeal and producing a rushing sound as the whip swings, which helps the user track the position of the moving end.
