Medieval Chain and Flexible Weapons

Weapons built around a chain, rope or flexible link, mostly from East Asian martial traditions, including the nunchaku, the kusarigama, the chain whip and the Chinese iron whip. A weapon belongs here when its cited article describes it as a chain, whip or flexible-linked weapon. It excludes rigid clubs and maces, which sit in the striking weapons group. Chain weapons spread through Japanese and Chinese martial arts and were prized for reach and for the way they can wrap an opponent weapon, and several began as farm tools or tools of the household.
