Nine Years' War

The Nine Years' War was a European great-power conflict fought from 1688 to 1697 between France and the Grand Alliance of the Dutch Republic, England, Scotland, the Holy Roman Empire, Spain and Savoy. Fought primarily in Europe, with related theatres including the Williamite War in Ireland and King William's War in North America, it ended with the Peace of Ryswick, under which France retained Alsace but returned Luxembourg, Lorraine and other Rhine territories.
