Weapons fielded from 1775 through 1944, before this atlas own Contemporary split begins: Napoleonic-era field artillery, the rifled muskets of the American Civil War, and the tanks, aircraft carriers, submarines and radar systems of the German Empire, Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and the United States through most of the Second World War. Belongs here: an industrial or mechanized weapon system fielded in the age of national warfare through 1944. Does not belong here: a weapon system fielded in 1945 or later, which belongs to Contemporary instead, and the invention narrative and inventor of a weapon, which is Technology own subject, cross-linked by same-as rather than duplicated here.
