The Ruger-5.7 is a semi-automatic pistol introduced in December 2019 by Sturm, Ruger and Company, notable as the first conventionally designed semi-automatic pistol chambered in 5.7x28mm since the Excel Arms MP-57 appeared in 2012. Ruger marketed it as a more affordable alternative to the FN Five-seven, which had dominated civilian availability in that caliber for over two decades. It uses a delayed blowback action, weighs 24.5 ounces, and feeds from 10- or 20-round box magazines with a muzzle velocity of about 520 meters per second.
