Was the SV-98 sniper rifle formally adopted by the Russian army in 2003?
Military Factory says the rifle entered service with Russian special forces but that the Russian Army has not adopted the type into its service. Modern Firearms says it was adopted by the Russian military under GRAU index 6V10, and Rosgvardia and the Kalashnikov Concern signed supply contracts (Interfax, 2018; Kalashnikov delivery reported 2025). No source read states an adoption order or the year 2003, and Military Factory dates the design to 1998.
What would resolve this A Russian Ministry of Defence or Kalashnikov Concern statement, or a GRAU or decree record, naming the adopting body and date for index 6V10 and the 6S11 sniper system, or a scholarly arms reference stating it.
