M2 half-track car

The M2 half-track car was an American armored half-track produced during the Second World War, designed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and built by the White Motor Company and, from 1940, the Autocar Company, serving as both an artillery tractor and a reconnaissance vehicle. About 13,500 were produced; the type served U.S. forces in the Philippines, North Africa, Europe and the Pacific with the Marine Corps, with roughly 800 more supplied to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease and additional vehicles distributed to other Allied nations, particularly in South America, with limited use continuing into the 1970s and 1980s.
