The FV510 Warrior tracked vehicle family is a series of British armoured vehicles developed to replace the FV430 series armoured personnel carriers. Originally known as the MCV-80, or Mechanised Combat Vehicle for the 1980s, it needed a top speed able to keep pace with the new main battle tank Britain then planned, a requirement the existing FV432 could not meet. The project began in 1972, GKN Defence won the production contract in 1984, and the Warrior entered British Army service that November, with production starting at Telford in January 1986.
