The Alvis Saracen, formally the FV603, is a six wheeled British armoured personnel carrier built by Alvis and put into production in 1952. It could carry a driver, a commander and up to nine troops, was armed with machine guns, and was protected by 16 millimeters of rolled homogeneous armour. It became closely associated with Operation Banner in Northern Ireland and with use by the South African government, and although production ended in 1976 some vehicles remain in limited secondary service today.
